2 Peter 2:6, “Later, he turned the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah into heaps of ashes and blotted them off the face of the earth, making them an example for all the ungodly in the future to look back upon and fear.”
There are “thoughts” in each of our minds about God. But the question that we need to ask is this, “Are the thoughts of God in our mind consistent with God’s Word?” To some, the picture of God is a picture of a “passive God” who is not that involved in our lives. To others, God “loves us and makes concessions for our sins.” To others, there is the belief that God has changed through the passing of years. We do ourselves a serious injustice when we allow ourselves to believe that God has changed His attitude on sin, wickedness, and wrongdoing. God’s holy nature cannot and will not tolerate sin, and before His holiness all sin will be dealt with. God reminds us in His Word that pictures of the past are reminders to fear His judgment that will come. His call to all who will listen is to repent, turn to Him. Only God Himself can save mankind from terrible judgment which is to come.
