Deuteronomy 8:11, “But that is the time to be careful! Beware that in your plenty you don’t forget the Lord your God and begin to disobey him.”
There is a strange and sobering thing that happens to us if we are not careful, after we have been blessed by the goodness of the Lord. That strange thing is the matter of “forgetting” the Lord. God has a sobering word to each of us as we experience His abundant blessings . . . His word is “don’t forget.” If you look around your life this morning at the “things” you have that have come your way by the Holy hand of the Lord, it is a reminder that God has been good to you. “Plenty” has led many people to forget God and to bask in their “abundance.” May we never forget that the Lord who gave is also the Lord that can take away in a moment’s time. God commands us not to forget Him in our living, praying, and relating to others this very day. A life of remembering the goodness of God is the highest and best life that there is to live. Live today basking in the greatness of the God who loves you!
