Isaiah 7:14, “…And she shall call Him Immanuel (meaning ‘God with us’).”
What does it mean when we say “God with us”. If you could imagine yourself being transported and becoming an “ant” to identify with all the ants, that would be a slight beginning in understanding what God did for us. Holy God, who is eternal, timeless, infinite, perfect, and Creator of time, space, energy and power chose to become a “human being” in order that He could know our lives, pains, problems, needs, concerns, and hurts. God didn’t just see man, watch man, but became a man. The next time you are hurt, forsaken, rejected, suffer loss, feel betrayed, you are in good company…for that is precisely what Jesus felt. Jesus declared, “the Son of man has no place to lay his head”. God loves you so much that He came to identify with your life…and most of all to rescue us from our sin. Someday we will see Him, worship Him, who became “flesh” that we might become “holy” through His sacrificial death.
