Joshua 23:15, “But as certainly as the Lord has given you the good things he promised, just as certainly he will bring evil upon you if you disobey him.”
There is a thought in the minds of many that goes like this, “I can live my life without consequences”. Such a thought is the height of folly. Joshua is reminding the nation of Israel that the God who brought to them blessings through obedience, also brings curses when there is disobedience. The same truth holds true for all time. If we think for one moment that we can reject obedience to the Living God without a price to pay, we have fallen into foolish thinking. God never allows disobedient living without a price. There is the loss of joy, contentment, happiness in the inner man. God yearns to bless our lives, but there is only one type of life that results in His abundant blessings…it is a life of obedience to the Living God. The sobering question that we must ask is this….are we walking this day in obedient living?
