Given for the Lord to Use
1 Samuel 1:28 (TLB) 28 ” So she left him there at the Tabernacle for the Lord to use.”
These are the words of Hannah as she left her son completely in the hands of the Lord, and walked back home without him. Hannah prayed for a son, but her devotion to the Lord was such that she would withhold nothing from him…even her son Samuel. She would leave her son at the tabernacle and walk back home…knowing that she had done the right thing before God. Could the reason that many parents lose their children…is because they hang onto them in a selfish way rather than giving their child over to the Lord for His purposes. Yes, we are to love our children, but never make idols of them. When our children become more important to our lives than obedience to God we are on dangerous ground before the Lord. The greatest gift a parent can give their child…is surrender of them over to the God who made them. In the end Hannah didn’t lose her son…he became great before God and great before the people of the land and it started with a mother devoted to God.
