Romans 1:1, “Dear friends in Rome: This letter is from Paul, Jesus Christ’s slave…”
When you consider your life…how do you view yourself before God? In the life of Paul, he viewed himself literally as a slave to the Lord God. A slave was owned by his master. A slave existed for the master and had no other reason for existence. A slave existed only for the purpose and service of the master. Even the slaves’ will belonged to the master. This is the way Paul viewed himself before Jesus Christ. His life, mind, body and soul belonged to Jesus Christ. Apart from Jesus, Paul had no purpose for living or breathing. It is no wonder that the life of Paul made such an impact on the world then, and now. When we view ourselves as belonging only to Jesus Christ, something wonderful takes place. We understand our highest purpose, and we are blessed by the Sovereign who runs the world. Most importantly we have lived in His pleasure. There is no better way to live life than pleasing the One who created you…and in the end, He will say “well done.”
