Psalm 78:42 (TLB) They forgot his power and love and how he had rescued them from their enemies;
Because of our fallen nature, we are prone to forget the goodnesses of God, and all that He has done for us and to us. That is why we need to return to His Word time and time again to be reminded of who our God is, and all He has done for us. It is God that has redeemed the believer from their sins. It is God that causes His protective angel to camp around us. It is God who loves to provide our needs on a daily basis. When we “forget” the goodnesses of God, we begin to take Him lightly and for granted. When a people take God lightly and for granted, they turn from holy reverence and awe of God, and cause God to deal with them. Such was the case with the children of Israel. They forgot the power, wonder, and holiness of God, and ended up dead in the desert. No person can ignore or forget God’s goodness without it costing them greatly. God didn’t create us to forget His glorious power and wonder. Let us take time this day, basking in the glory of our great and holy God.
