Genesis 39:7, “One day about this time Potiphar’s wife began making eyes at Joseph, and suggested that he come and sleep with her.”
What do you do when temptations come into your life? Some suggest, “If God loved me He would keep them from me!” Nothing is further from the truth. God didn’t keep Potiphar’s wife from approaching Joseph. In fact, this happened by the divine knowledge of the Lord God. Has it dawned upon you that God allows you temptations, to check your devotion to Him, or your devotion to your own fleshly nature! Many cannot climb very high in life because the important thing in their life is satisfying their fallen carnal nature. Many cannot be promoted, and blessed because the carnal nature is priority. That was not the case in the life of Joseph. It was more important for him to obey God that satisfy a momentary craving. When you lose in the battle over temptation, you are revealing that satisfaction to self, and the flesh is of greater importance than to the living God. Choose to resist all appearances of evil, and then you are set for God to promote you in ways that are beyond your wildest imaginations. Most importantly, you will have pleased the God of heaven by resisting temptation and obeying Him.
