An Example of Judgement Over Sin
Man has always been in a bent away from God, doing his own thing, living as he pleases. Yet, in the midst of man doing as he pleases, God remains holy God. Scripture declares that men of olden time lived and acted wickedly, and on this occasion were involved with other men’s wives, thinking that nothing but personal sensual gratification would take place…then God revealed His power. God destroyed 23,000 in one day’s time. We may desire to ask questions, but the sobering truth is, the creature has no right to ask the Creator anything. God is Sovereign, holy, just, and pure. He can do as He desires to do, anytime He desires. He has not changed. The principle of this one verse is sobering…sin will always be meted with death. When a society is given to sin, that society will die, because sin has permeated that society. It is God that establishes societies, and God has the power to destroy them. He remains holy God. The good news…there is coming a land of perfection, that the redeemed will enjoy for all eternity.
