When there is no joy, no laughter and no happiness deep within due to some sin that has been committed, God makes it abundantly clear that He and He alone is the only One who can restore joy once again. Joy returns when there is humble admission, confession and repentance of sins that we have committed. Joy returns when we seek the Lord with all our heart and are sorry for the sin that we have committed. Joy returns when there is a willingness to once again obey the Lord and His Word. If you think joy returns any other way, you are mistaken and disoriented to God’s truth. God is holy and He gives His joy to those who take sin seriously and come clean about their sin. The psalmist requested joy, and joy returned after he dealt with his sin. God will return joy to our lives the same way, for He is an unchanging God.
