When you stop and look at the world around you at Christmas time, it has become a highly complex and commercial time. Stores do their best to be the “first” to offer deals of a lifetime. Christmas has become big business for the merchandizing industry. But the reality is, Christmas should be a simple rather than a complex time.

When you stop and think about it, there is no lasting value to an “earthly gift”. The trees will die if they are real. Ornaments will be put back into storage, lights will be removed from the Christmas tree and life will go back to normal. All the things that we often use as a means of celebration in many ways have no power to help us in our daily lives and living, and the sobering reality is that mankind all across the world is in need of a power beyond himself. The only One that can help us beyond ourselves and give us any lasting value to life…is Jesus. There is no one but Jesus that can fill the human heart with hope. Only Jesus can give us joy when there seems to be no apparent joy in sight. Only Jesus can fill the heart with peace when it seems like all there is around us is fear and anxiety.
