The Joy of Confession
1 John 1:9, “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”
The normal Christian life, though redeemed by the blood of Jesus Christ, is also a life whereby we fail, fall and sin from time to time. We do things we ought not do, and say things we ought not say because we will always live in this fallen sinful body. Yet, the wonderful promise of God is that there is relief, renewal and restoration through confessing our sins. When we go to our knees and confess to the Father what we have done, He is not out to brow-beat us, but rather His overflowing loving nature is to forgive us of all our sin. In true confession, He removes the guilt from our heart, and restores it with His peace, joy and wonder. While confession may be painful immediately…it has a wonderful outcome…cleansing from all unrighteousness. If you have sinned in some way, go to your knees, speak to the Father and watch what happens in your soul. You will be wonderfully amazed.
