Philippians 1:23, “Sometimes I want to live, and at other times I don’t, for I long to go and be with Christ. How much happier for me than being here.”
Do you ever find yourself in this perplexing state like the apostle Paul? If you are a child of God, born of the Spirit of God, it is the most natural thing to have a yearning for your homeland heaven. It isn’t a sign that you don’t care about your family here on this earth, but rather it is a sign that God has placed His Spirit in you, and you know that you really don’t fit into this world. Our yearning to go to heaven, doesn’t mean that we want to harm ourselves, it simply means that we grow tired of this sinful world, and we long to be in that world where our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ is. If you never find yourself in this perplexing state, it is wise to back up and evaluate your soul in light of God’s Word. The good news is that someday soon, heaven is awaiting those who are genuinely redeemed by the precious blood of Christ. I long for that day…do you?
