Genesis 40:23, “Yet the chief cupbearer did not remember Joseph, but forgot him.”
Ever felt forgotten? Abandoned? All alone in the darkness of your life? Joseph had been imprisoned, rejected by brothers, and forgotten by those that were to love him. What is even worse, it seemed that God had forgotten him and left him to a cold lonely prison! Yet, the truth of God is this, He will allow us those dark times in life to see if there is still “thanksgiving” in our soul. Regardless of what Joseph faced, he never blamed God, neither did he become bitter with life. He heart of devotion and thanksgiving to God never waned. It was for this reason that God could promote Joseph from the darkness into the light of great responsibility and blessing. When you are walking through darkness, never forget that God is in the darkness and He is watching carefully your response…for what we do in the darknesses of life may we determine the size and scope of blessings to come. Can God bless us because we choose to give thanks in the dark?
